Ready to Listen : Ready to Act

19.07.05 Cardiff Post Article

My postbag this week has been packed full of letters and E-Mails from constituents from across the City expressing concern with the Council's decision to move the portrait of Princess Diana in City Hall.  I have posed questions to the Council with a view to be being provided with specific information relating to this, and I am awaiting for the details.  I will update everyone in my next article as this has provoked a huge reaction from the public.  If you would like to express your comments please contact me using the details outlined below.

HRH Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall visited City Hall at the end of last week, where Councillors were given an address by the Prince at an extraordinary meeting of the Council. The Prince’s words were very encouraging and he made reference to his great grandfather’s link to the City.

The Rhiwbina Luncheon Club takes place on a Thursday in the Beulah Assembly Rooms.  The organisers are always looking for volunteers to help for just a few hours in the day.  If anyone is interested in getting involved in this most worthwhile cause, please let me know and I will put you in touch with a Member of the Committee.

I was delighted to be asked to formally open the Rhiwbeina Primary School Fete last Saturday.  There were a tremendous amount of stalls, side shows and raffles, and the whole afternoon was enjoyed by children, parents, governors, teachers and the community at large.  The new “Friends of Rhiwbina” was introduced at this event, and I wish them the very best of luck.  Congratulations to Mrs Lisa Humphrey, the Chairman of the Friends of Rhiwbina, and her colleagues on making the event so enjoyable and successful.

Telecommunication Mast applications are increasing in the City and are the cause of great concern to many residents.  Please let me know if you have an application near you which you are concerned about.  I can put you in touch with your local representative who can provide advice and support on the process of how you can make submissions to the Council and the developer.

Cllr Robson and I share a website and last month we had in excess of 850 hits.  We would welcome comments from constituents on how we can improve our website, and also which information would be useful for residents.
