Ready to Listen : Ready to Act

17.10.05 Cardiff Post Article

As a Girlguiding Ambassador for Cardiff, I was delighted to be invited to the Mansion House to attend an event in the presence of the Rt Hon, The Lord Mayor of Cardiff.  It is wonderful that so many people involved in worthwhile organisations, such as Girlguiding, are afforded the opportunity to use Cardiff’s most prestigious Council House to host a fundraising event.  Congratulations to everyone involved in making the event such a success.  If you would like to become involved in Girlguiding, please let me know and I put you in touch with the appropriate organiser for the area in which you reside.

I have written to the Executive Member for Schools and Lifelong Learning and have asked for an update on detailed proposals for the Schools Reorganisation Plan.  The Councillor stated that he is not in a position to give me a precise answer at present because the Schools Service is presently in the process of verifying various figures with regard to pupil numbers and capacities with the National Assembly.  If you would like me to keep you advised, please send me an E-Mail or telephone me with your contact details.

The Cardiff Community Safety Partnership (CCSP) has signed an agreement that will improve communication between a number of agencies in order to address issues relating to anti-social behaviour in the City.  An official protocol for the exchange of information between the Cardiff Community Unit, South Wales Police (Cardiff), Cardiff Council and all locally-based Registered Social Landlords has been drawn up in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the Human Rights Act.  For further information please contact me and I will pass your details to the relevant officer to contact you directly.

My next Surgery and Coffee Morning will take place on Saturday 22nd October, between 10.30am - Noon to discuss Licensing Issues.  It will be held at Greenhill Special School, Heol Brynglas, Rhiwbina.  For more information, please contact me 029 2062 7757 / 079 7001 3332, jcowan@cardiff.gov.uk or www.rhiwbinaward.com
