Ready to Listen : Ready to Act

Cardiff Post Article April 2007

I was shocked to learn that if the current rate of burials in Thornhill Crematorium continues at the present rate, we will have no spaces left at the end of this year.  In my opinion, The Council’s Executive have skirted around this issue for months, and I feel that until I see the paperwork signed off for the extended spaces, then the Council are letting the population of Cardiff down.  Bereavement Services is a frontline service, and needs immediate and urgent priority.  I would like to pay tribute to the Bereavement Services Team for the sterling service which they offer, and hope that the Council will support their endeavours.

Cardiff’s Bereavement Services are inviting everyone to purchase a memorial dedication which will be placed in the ‘Easter Daffodil Garden’.  The Easter Garden can be found in front of the Wenallt Chapel in Thornhill Crematorium until Friday 20th April.  A minimum donation of £2 is all that is needed and you are able to inscribe a message in memory of a loved one.  The dedication will be placed on a decorative panel surrounding the Easter Daffodil Garden.  All donations received will be in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care which is a most worthwhile cause.

I have the honour of reading in the Palm Sunday Memorial Service being held at the Wenallt Chapel on Sunday 1st April, starting at 2pm.  All residents are invited to attend the service.

My ward colleague Adrian Robson and I have a ward surgery at The Rhiwbina Recreational Club on Monday 2nd April, between 6pm – 7.30pm.  Please pop along for a chat.
